Riding a two-wheeler

That is a goal we have for our oldest since he's 7 now. We aren't big bike people but the boys have been wanting to more lately. The problem is that neither DH or I own a bike ourselves. DH would love to ride with them so he's been looking into getting a bike. As for me, I could do with out and it is a case of fear. I badly broke my arm the summer I turned 13 and haven't been on a bike since. Makes it hard to teach the boys how to ride one, kwim. DH may work on that this month, so I wanted to have a card ready for DS #1 when the time comes. The latest CAS-ology challenge was the inspiration for getting it done. The great thing about this challenge is that they give you a word to inspire you and you create from that. This week's word was 'wheels'. WMS has this cute little bike that I knew I had to play with. The problem for me was that it was so small. I wasn't sure how I was going to use it until my sister-in-law sent me this text of a dress for my soon-to-be niece:

I loved the navy color with the small flamingo pattern. I knew the size of the bike would work perfectly with this design. The pattern also wasn't so busy that it took away from the CAS feel. To give the card a little more umph, I cut the c/s for the pattern slightly smaller that the card base. Then I found the center of the paper and stamped the first bike. After that first one I just eye-balled the others. They were first stamped in versamark and then heat embossed with white powder and the lightly sponged the edges with white ink. To keep with the CAS of the card I cut a wide white strip of c/s and created a sentiment from WMS's free Spirit Sentiments. Since this card is all about the movement of learning to ride a bike, I stamped the image once and then again just off set a little to make the sentiment look like it was moving. It still needed a little something so I added the navy stripes along the top and bottom of the sentiment strip. One it was attached to the pattern paper I created, I used a 1/4" rounder on the corners. Love how quickly this card came together for me.
